If you are interested in converting your WordPress Blog into a BuddyPress Blog then don’t worry, it is very simple. There is no other database involved, all you need is to install the Buddy Press Plugin through your Blog and make some changes afterwords: This is how the Plugin page looks like. You will know the installation was successful when you see this new window show up on your administrative panel:

But you are not done yet because BuddyPress has its own themes. So after installed, one of three options will be presented:

Before you do anything, just click on your Blog name on the left-hand corner and see how different it will be. Your widgets probably will not be there but don’t worry, you didn’t lose them. Scroll down and you will see links under your footer, don’t worry. Go back to your administrative panel and let’s take a look at the three options:

1. Activate a BuddyPress Compatible theme” to take advantage of all of the features: When you click on this option, you will see a new a new theme listed in your “Available Themes” page:

Here you will need to decide of either using this default theme or leave the theme unopened and choose the second choice:

2. We’ve bundled a default theme, but you can always “install some other compatible themes.” The other compatible themes will be these.

Now, if you have worked hard to find the best suitable and best looking theme for your blog and do not find the BuddyPress compatible themes attractive enough, then you have a third choice:

3. or “upgrade your existing WordPress theme.” When you click on this option you will have to install the BuddyPress Template Pack and follow the 3 step instructions. I tried it and it worked without any adjustments, I hope it works for you also.

Here you have Demos for BuddyPress and 12 interesting themes. Here you have a list all the BuddyPress Plugins.

Note: This is an introduction to BuddyPress, if you are interested. This Blog will deal with WordPress Blogs without social networking involved but it is important to know how far you can go and after all, BuddyPress is just another WordPress.org plugin. And there’s more!

Note: If your Widget items disappears whenever you tryout other themes don’t worry, just go to Appearance> Widgets and go all the way to the bottom and you will see them there. Grab them and place them back where they belong.
